Health Action Teams

Health Action Teams are interdisciplinary school based teams, challenged to develop and implement a comprehensive school health project utilizing classroom education, cafeteria environment, school meal choices and the Dietary Guidelines as vehicles to impact dietary choices of students.

Health Action Teams are a collaborative project developed by the Arkansas Department of Education's Comprehensive School Health, Child Nutrition, and Nutrition Education and Training Programs.  Comprehensive School Health funds ar e provided by the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control.  NET and CN program funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Team is comprised of various school personnel, including teachers, counselors, nurses, administrators, bus drivers, maintenance technicians, custodians, food service workers, and community members including parents.

Each school selects their own team members and develops a plan of work customized to their schools needs. Schools may choose to focus on one or several of the dietary guidelines.
